Steel City Jazz Festival Releases 2017 Line-up

THE STEEL CITY JAZZ FESTIVAL WORLD-CLASS LINE-UP RELEASED

Top-Notch Premiere Jazz Artists along with Legendary R & B Performers

Grammy Award Winning Saxophonists David Sanborn, Najee and Boney James along with the Mighty O’Jays, Jeffrey Osborne, and Rachelle Ferrell are headed for the 2017 Steel City Jazz Festival. This year’s dynamic roster includes: Ken Ford, Kim Waters, Alex Bugnon, Michael Lington, Marc Antoine, Jazmine Ghent, Marian Meadows, Jeff Lorber, Paul Taylor, Everette Harp, Kyle Turner, Norman Brown, Kirk Whalum, Sherry Reeves, Maysa and the Gulf Coast All Stars. The Fourth Annual Steel City Jazz Festival is distinctively set in the backdrop of Birmingham’s Historic Linn Park on June 2-4, 2016, with more than 20 acclaimed artists gracing one huge colorful stage. Festival Organizer Cedric Allen questions who concert goer’s will favor, “I find it awfully hard for anyone to pick one artist over another, they are all such amazing musicians and performers. You can’t ask for anything better talent wise.”

The Steel City Jazz Festival has grown into an international festival drawing festival enthusiasts from throughout the world. This festival transcends its musical roots and blossoms with a flair of a family reunion. It is built on the tradition of Jazz but influenced by the rhythmic partnership of true R & B. We expect to make your musical experience a festival that you will never forget.

The legendary Mighty O’Jays that have formed the soundtrack for the lives of several generations – is the cornerstone of this year’s lineup. They will hit the stage as the headliner for 2017, with lush vocals and slick smooth sexy choreography, displaying the energy that only they can bring to a performance. Of course, the core of the entertainment features smooth unmistakable jazz such as Boney James, that will have traditionalists hanging on the edge of their seats. This year’s artists are no strangers to Birmingham, as many of them will be making their repeat appearances.
